Rishabh Pant has been ruled out of the second ODI of the ongoing series against Australia due to concussion, the BCCI confirmed on Wednesday (January 15).

Pant, who got hit on the helmet while batting in the three-match series opener in Mumbai on Tuesday evening, took no further part in the game and was taken to the hospital for "overnight monitoring". However, the scans reported nothing major and the wicketkeeper-bat was subsequently discharged.

Keeping in line with the concussion protocols, Pant has now been ruled out from the second game of the series, to be played in Rajkot on Friday (January 17). The left-hander will instead check-in at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru for his rehabilitation as per ICC's concussion rules.

KL Rahul, who kept the wickets during India's 10-wicket loss to Australia, will likely don the gloves in Pant's absence. The Delhi batsman's availability for the third and final ODI, in Bengaluru on Sunday (January 19), will be assessed in due course.
